New Deus Ex Game Confirmed

A new Deus Ex game is on the way and it’s called Deus Ex: Mankind Divided.

The game was confirmed by the newest issue of Game Informer after screenshots were previously leaked by Kanobu via NeoGAF. Square Enix has not confirmed the game themselves but they have been doing a three day reveal of a new title by one of their western developers on Twitch. The final reveal is said to happen today and all clues revealed during the stream seem to point to Deus Ex.

The game will star Deus Ex: Human Revolution protagonist Adam Jensen and will have him traveling around the world, including the Czech Republic. The story will take place two years after Human Revolution and none of that game’s four endings will be canon. Jensen will join an Interpol task force to capture augmented terrorists. Transhumans are now feared and hated around the world, thanks to the Aug incident that resulted in millions of people being killed by those with augmentations. The terrorists are now trying to sway public opinion of augmentations, as well as the mysterious Illuminati, for their own benefit.

The gameplay will again be a mix of stealth, action, and interactions with RPG elements in an open world, like Human Revolution. Jensen will have new augmentations available to him, such as firing nano-blades from a distance and creating an indestructible nanoshield around him. One screenshot seems to confirm that you’ll be able to customize your guns. The game will be developed on the new Dawn engine and will also utilize DirectX 12 and AMD’s TressFX.

No release date has been announced but it has been confirmed that the game will be released on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. The Game Informer issue with an interview with developer Eidos Montreal and more details about the game will be available in a week or two on print and is available now for digital subscribers. The remaining screenshots for the game can be seen below:

Finally, the announcement trailer can be seen below:

My Opinion:

I have Human Revolution on the Xbox 360 but never finished it. I did really like the world and interactions and the gameplay was fun, as the stealth felt rewarding without being constricting. However, the pacing of the missions felt too long and drawn out and I eventually lost interest. I’m still interested in the series though, and seeing these screenshots actually makes me really excited for this game! I dig the detail in the gun models and character models, the colorful environments, whether it’s natural colors outside or the neon lights indoors, and the premise the game has. Here’s hoping Eidos Montreal learned from the previous game to make Mankind Divided awesome!
