According to the marketing sheet leaked to Kotaku and corroborated by “other sources” within the publication, The Taken King will launch for $40 (USD) on September 15th. The expansion will introduce new Strikes and PvP maps, as well as a new Raid that Bungie had confirmed last April.
The expansion’s name has appeared several times in the past – showing up on packs of Red Bull within the U.S., as well as a trademark and logo cropping up last month for the expansion.
Additionally, a new subclass and new elemental super ability for each character class (Hunter, Titan, and Warlock) have been revealed to be a part of the new expansion. Hunters will receive a gravity bow (void), Warlocks will have an electrical storm (arc), and Titans will get a flaming hammer (solar).
Following Destiny’s first expansion, The Dark Below, Raid “Crota’s End,” players will have to overcome the god Oryx, who is out for vengeance. Oryx is at the command of a new class of enemies called the Taken, adding a fifth class of enemies for players to fight.
Currently, Destiny is available for purchase on the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One.
I have gotten super into Destiny in the past two months, so anything that Bungie releases for the game has me so excited! I started playing after The Dark Below came out and right before House of Wolves launched, so I’m super pumped to be able to participate in a whole new expansion that has more content than the previous two mentioned, provided I’m still into the game by then (which I will be). I’m most happy to hear that there will be a new subclass added to each character, because I’ve leveled the hell out of the two current ones. So far, all great news and I’m anxiously awaiting to hear more at E3!
