In addition to being a source of entertainment, video games can also teach valuable lessons. One such lesson – don’t gamble with the devil. You will lose! That valuable lesson is made clear in the opening moments of the E3 trailer for Cuphead. Shown off at Microsoft’s E3 Press Conference, Cuphead is a gorgeously animated title in the style of 1930’s cartoons. Hand-drawn and hand-inked animation with watercolor backgrounds were used to achieve a stylish retro look.
As for the gameplay, Cuphead is a run and gun side-scroller largely focused on intense, enormous boss battles. The game features two main characters, Cupman and Mugman, allowing for co-op action. It is scheduled for release in 2016, exclusively on the Xbox One and PC. Watch the trailer below and see why being in debt to the devil is a very bad thing.
I absolutely love the art style of Cuphead. While watching the trailer, it really does look and feel like those classic cartoons with the hand-drawn animation and jazz music. The boss battles look crazy and the surreal flavor of the characters is refreshing to see. This is easily a standout title for me at this years E3.
