It appears a standalone of The Witcher 3’s popular deck-building card game Gwent is getting its own game, if a new trademark filing is any indication.
The trademark was filed under video games software. with the European Union Intellectual Property Office on June 6th.
It’s been long rumored that a standalone Gwent game was in the works. Upon release of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt last June, the game within the game has been one of the most popular features — with many fans chomping at the bit for a more expansive and standalone version of it.
CD Projekt Red announced previously in the year plans to unveil two new games at E3, one being something entirely new from the studio.
My Opinion:
When I initially saw this trademark filed I fist-bumped the air. I have lost countless hours and ignored countless loved ones all in the name of Gwent. And that’s just the simple in-game version. If this proves to be real, and it most certainly is, I will be stocking up on vitamin D gummies very soon.
