The Witness gets Xbox One release date

Thekla and Jonathan Blow have announced an Xbox One release date for puzzle game hit: The Witness. The date? September 13th.

The Witness originally released on PS4 and PC on January 26th earlier this year. Once released it became an instant critical darling, landing at 87 on Metacritic. At the time of release, Blow did mention it would eventually come to Xbox One, but never provided a date.

Blow made the announcement via IGN where he assured fans that there won’t be much of a difference between the Xbox One version compared to the previous versions.

There are some technical differences, but it’s basically the same game.” He goes on to dismiss platform-specific content, saying that “I feel like that would kind of… mess up the game.”

Blow also went on to give an update on the iOS version, saying that it would be the same open-world and puzzles, but lower-end graphics. However, the touch-screen nature of phones will allow for various different gameplay mechanics. No date for the iOS version was given.

The Witness will launch for Xbox One on September 13th.

My Opinion:

Puzzle games aren’t my jam. The Witness isn’t my jam because of this. I don’t play games that aren’t my jam.
