Grand Theft Auto inspired Tokyo 42 coming to PS4, Xbox One, and PC in 2017

Tokyo 42, a self-described “lovechild” of Syndicate and Grand Theft Auto 1 developed by indie studio Smac Games, is coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC in 2017.

The news comes from publisher of the game: Mode 7. The publisher goes on to say the game has a significant open world single player mode, with a complete story (as well as a bunch of side-quests), plus a competitive arena-based multiplayer component. You play as a character who is thrusted into a cutthroat world of assassins, and an “intensely condensed future Tokyo.” You’ll take on missions from terminals and “handlers,” building up your funds and underworld reputation as you progress.

Mode 7 describes it as an “action game to its core,” adding that every bullet and grenade has full physics, which in turn enables you dodge and weave in combat. You’ll have a variety of weapons to choose from, such as: pistols, machine guns, sniper rifles, katanas, and many more. The fully explorable open world will also boast many secret areas, that can only be accessed by manipulating the game’s camera.

Being an assassin game, stealth will obviously play a vital role. For example, in the  game there will be times where you have to sneak into gang strongholds, rooftop leap to avoid detection, or snipe enemies from afar and in midair. Further, you’ll be able to change the skin color of your character to blend in better with crowds, or shake off enemy assassins who have been sent to kill you.

In the multiplayer Arena Mode, you and your opponent will spawn into a small area (unaware of each other’s locations), and will be tasked with eliminating each other.

My Opinion:
