Backwards Compatibility on Xbox One will now include original Xbox starting this Fall

Today during Microsoft’s E3 press conference, Phil Spencer announced that due to popularity of backwards compatibility on Xbox One by playing Xbox 360 games, original Xbox games will now be included in the BC catalog.

During the press conference, Spencer on backwards compatability, “ Today our library of games stand at 385 titles and over half of Xbox One players have played a backwards compatible game.” He then revealed that coming in the fall, Xbox One players can play original Xbox games due to backwards compatibility.

Spencer also mentioned that all original Xbox games will receive a graphical boost and play better than ever on the Xbox One family of systems.

One of the original Xbox titles that has been announced for this program is Crimson Skies: High Road to Revenge. Check out the trailer for this original Xbox classic below.

My Opinion:

As a predominantly PlayStation gamer, this is a program I would love for Sony to adopt. Being able to put a PS1 or PS2 disc into my PS4 and playing them in all it’s glory is exciting. I don’t think this will ever happen with PlayStation but am happy for Xbox users to have the ability to do so.
