Life Is Strange Episode One: Chrysalis Review

CHOOSE WISELY…OR MAYBE NOT

Life is Strange. This title, while simple, perfectly captures both the main ideas from the game itself and an understanding of humanity that we all can comprehend. In this subtle way, DONTNOD has created a connection to the player and the game, before the story is even started.

Grim Fandango Review

DEATH IS PATIENT

After more than 15 years since its original launch, Tim Schafer’s classic adventure game, Grim Fandango, has been remastered and re-released for PC, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation Vita.  As most fans know, this isn’t an ordinary re-release.  After some of the original code was lost and Tim Schafer left LucasArts to form Double Fine, Grim Fandango got shoved under the rug and largely forgotten.  For years the only way to play Schafer’s cult-classic adventure game was to download it illegally or track down a physical copy.  Fortunately, thanks to this remaster, fans and newcomers like me can now play the classic for $14.99. MAKING BOMBS OUT OF BEEHIVES

Super Mega Baseball Review

Rookie of the Year

In the last couple console generations, arcade-style sports games had a major decline in production. Besides Wii Sports,  fans now favor the hardcore sports simulators with their realistic graphics, television-like presentation and true-to-life gameplay. Cartoony sports games are seen now as bush league.

Duke Nukem 3D: Megaton Edition Review

THE KING IS BACK

One thing this decade has been lacking is a good Duke Nukem game. Duke Nukem Forever did not fill that role, so instead of trying again, Duke Nukem 3D and all of the expansions were wrapped up in a nice package and Duke Nukem 3D Megaton Edition came into existence. The PC version was released in 2013, and now Megaton Edition is available on PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita. It does fill the role of best Duke Nukem game this generation as well as the best first-person shooter on Vita.

Resogun (Vita) Review

BLOWING US UP, BUT NOT AWAY

The PlayStation Vita is a powerful handheld console capable of beautiful visuals. Resogun is a PlayStation 4-native twin-stick shooter known for its brilliant aesthetics. In theory, the two should be a flawless marriage.

Destiny: The Dark Below Review

NO DINKLEBOT? NO PROBLEM!

Destiny has been going strong since its September 9th release. Regardless of the opinions of reviewers and the player base, one comment has been popping up no matter where you look, “I can’t stop playing.” However, even with the player support, Bungie hasn’t rested on their laurels and this is evident by The Dark Below expansion that was released December 9, 2014.
