Watch_Dogs Hits Over 4 Million Copies Sold in Under a Week

Watch_Dogs, the long awaited IP from Ubisoft, has seen a monumental release. There seems to be a direct positive correlation between the copies sold and the massive hype that had been built for the game. Even taking into account the multiple delays, it seems like gamers desperately wanted to get their hands on Watch_Dogs.

In just its first week, Ubisoft announced that Watch_Dogs has not only earned the title of best first week sales of an Ubisoft title, but also the best selling new franchise launch. With Watch_Dogs having sold over 4 million copies in just under a week that’s not hard to believe. Along with those accolades the ctOS companion app for mobile devices has been downloaded more than one million times.

With these numbers hitting such a high mark without the game having been released on all of its set platforms yet (Wii U), it’s easy to tell that Jonathan Morin’s (Creative Director) former statement of “Right now there is no such thing as Watch_Dogs 2” will likely be changing soon.

My Opinion:

There is going to be a Watch_Dogs 2 if you ask this humble writer. I’ve seen the ending, as I’m sure a lot of you have, and how the story played out and left off it’s kind of clear that Ubisoft has built up this story to continue. I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s even some information about Aiden’s second outing late this year or early next year. Especially with sales like that in just under a week? Watch_Dogs is a franchise I bet we’ll be seeing a lot more of in the coming years if it continues to see success like this.

Myles K Farrington is a new writer on the MONG team and a rather dapper fellow. Keep up with him over at IGN, Twitch, and Twitter as well!
