Bungie (the wonderful people they are) have come forth with a wealth of information on the upcoming Destiny Beta as well as the swag available to those pre-order the Limited Edition, the Digital Guardian Edition, and the Ghost Edition of Destiny. If you love Peter Dinklage, you’re gonna love the Ghost Edition.
First off, I’m sure everyone is wondering what exactly you’ll be getting your hands on when it comes to the different editions, no worries, I’ll tell you.
When it comes to the Limited Edition, you’re looking at getting your hands on:
- Destiny physical disc copy
- Steel Destiny branded case
- “Hand-written” field notes book
- “Antique” star-chart
- Leather bound Guardian folio
- 4 Golden Age postcards (before the Darkness wrecked the Earth)
- Passes for the first two Destiny expansions ($34.99 value)
- Collector’s edition content including; a new skin for your Ghost and ship, as well as player emblem
When it comes to the Ghost Edition (the other physical edition) you get all of that and the snazzy life-size replica of your Ghost. The Ghost also features sound clips and lights up!
The Limited Edition version drops at an $99.99 value where as the Ghost Edition will run you $149.99. However, I did mention that there was a third edition, the Digital Guardian Edition.
The Digital Guardian Edition of the game is fully digital (as the name implies) and comes with all of the digital Limited Edition content as well as early access to the Vanguard armory and a player emblem. Digital Guardian will also come with two reservations for the upcoming Destiny expansions “The Dark Below” and “House of Wolves.” Each of these expansions will include maps, missions, and gear.
Last but not least, there is the information on the aforementioned Betas. Keeping with the trend, Bungie will be giving PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 owners access to the Beta first on July 17th. The servers will then be taken down for two days on the 21st before being brought back up for everyone (Xbox 360 and Xbox One included). The Beta will (sadly) end on the 27th though it will start at the very beginning of the game and give us the chance to try out more story missions, a strike mission, and more crucible maps.
My Opinion:
Well, I guess I need to get those eight days off of work to play in the Beta… and I need to talk to someone about getting a raise because I’m about to drop another $90 on Destiny. In all seriousness, I am brimming with so much excitement that I might explode.
Myles K Farrington is one of the newer writers on the MONG team and a classy fellow. Keep up with him over at IGN, Twitch, and Twitter as well!
They should have announced this stuff way back in march. I already bought the game then and I’m far too lazy to change it now.

Where did you get it from? I know I checked Amazon the moment I found out about it and they were already sold out there.

Might as well get at least the collector’s edition if you are planning on getting the Expansion Packs.
