In a surprise reveal during Xbox’s Gamescom press conference, Crystal Dynamics announced that Rise of the Tomb Raider will be coming exclusively to Xbox One during the Holiday 2015 season.
Rise of the Tomb Raider is a direct sequel to 2013’s Tomb Raider, and was revealed earlier this summer at E3.
Does this mean that Rise of the Tomb Raider will be coming to PlayStation 4 sometime in 2016? Or not at all? That remains to be seen for now. Based on Darrell Gallagher’s (head of Crystal Dynamics) comments, it appears that it will stay exclusive to Xbox One.
My Opinion:
This isn’t the best news I’ve heard so far at Gamescom. I hope this isn’t exclusive for the entire console lifecycle. It would really be a kick in the balls to fans who played Tomb Raider on PlayStation 3 and 4.

This is such an odd move. A Tomb Raider game NOT coming to a Sony console is unheard of. Hell a Square Enix game not on a Japanese console is also new.
I’m not against having games be exclusive to certain consoles, but Tomb Raider wad already multiplatform. To go exclusive for the series now, even if it was Sony exclusive, makes no sense.

I am not sure I could be more enraged right now. I LOVED the latest Tomb Raider and bought it on PS3 and on PS4. Apparently this is how you treat your loyal fans? Square Enix can get fucked for all I care now, they will get no more business from me at all. Microsoft is no better as all they can do is shell out big bucks to steal away 3rd party games as opposed to creating their own stuff. Thanks for hurting the gaming instruty…

It’s exclusive for one year, just like Sony shelled out big bucks to make Destiny’s exclusive content for one year, oh and they made Destiny a Sony exclusive game in Japan.
