Resident Evil: Revelations 2 Releasing Episodically in Early 2015

Late last week, Capcom announced that the recently-announced Resident Evil: Revelations 2 will be releasing episodically early next year.

The game will be broken up into four pieces and will release one episode per week, at which point the whole set will be released on disc. The episodes will cost $5.99 each or $24.99 for a season pass. It will not be released on the 3DS, the system this Resident Evil originally released on.

The first Revelations game came out in January of 2012 and did well enough to warrant getting the HD treatment. It was re-released the following May for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PC, and Wii U.

Both the season pass and the retail versions of the game will include bonus content not available in the single-episode versions. The game will release early in 2015, but no exact dates have been announced yet.

My Opinion:

Revelations was the best Resident Evil game in a long time so this is really great news for me. At first I was a bit disappointed when I heard it was episodic but then I thought about it and realized that a ton of great games have come out that way recently and the first one was pretty much styled like that already. I also like the idea of being able to focus and complete one chapter at a time all the way before moving on. Capcom, you have my $25.
