The Hotfix is In! Destiny Has Been Patched Again

Destiny’s newest hotfix (1.0.2.2) is in, and this one brings much requested features. While Bungie’s previous updates have addressed the randomness of engram rewards, this one is all about balance.

With this hotfix, Bungie has patched the Titan’s Unbreakable ability to decrease the unintended boost of agility. In a similar vein, Warlocks will now be able to activate the Brimstone perk while airborne.

The majority of changes were made to enhance or nerf weapon types. The Auto Rifles have had their base damage, precision damage multiplier, and stability significantly decreased. Meanwhile, Scout Rifles’ base damage, damage vs. combatants, target acquisition, and recoil have been increased and improved.

Shotguns have fared generally well — while their maximum range damage is substantially decreased, the Shot Package perk gives a wider cone of fire. Additionally, the Shot Package and Range Finder perks are now exclusive to Shotguns. As a small note, Hand Cannons weren’t immune to this update — they will be getting a boost to in-air accuracy.

In the biggest surprise, this week brings substantial “nerfs” to specific Exotic Weapons: the Vex Mythoclast and Pocket Infinity. The Vex Mythoclast had its base damage decreased by a third, but benefitted from increased precision damage. If you are wondering what called for this extreme downgrade, check out the video below.

Meanwhile, the Pocket Infinity’s Enhanced Battery perk has been replaced by the Speed Reload perk.

Besides these nerfs, the hotfix also patches some outstanding bugs. Specifically, the Metal Detector and Lightweight bugs have been fixed, kill volume has been added to the sniper platforms to prevent sitting, relic glitching has been fixed, and the Valkyrie-05X Ship will no longer look the same as the Aurora Lance.

Last but not least, the Fallen “have retreated from their hold over the Rocket Yard to discuss a new takeover plan.” What does this mean? Don’t expect to keep farming the Rocket Yard loot cave.

My Opinion:

What a great bunch of fixes. While I am going to be a tad salty over the complete lack of loot caves, Tiger Strikes are the definitive way to engram farm. Additionally, I’ve been waiting for the weapon nerfs — my NARAKA SR5 hasn’t seen enough love in the last two weeks. Also, I can’t wait to see how the Destiny community embraces the changes to the Mythoclast — a 34% nerf is no joke, especially to those who farmed the Vault of Glass for it.

  1. people like you need to stop whining about everything. you play destiny recently all the changes they have to make has totally ruined the game and the ability to even stay connected. the amount of time it takes to get the vex is well worth what it did do. it is a big disappointment now and not worth the time it takes to get. there are so many other weapons like the pistols that are one shot kills that are very easy to obtain, As well as the shotguns. So why should a weapon like the vex be nerfed when it Is so hard to come by. my advice learn how to play and deal with it or get it yourself. games always have to change things due to people complaining about it. play it as it is or find another game and let the ones that enjoy it enjoy it. the vault of glass is no joke. takes 6 people working together to get it done and it Is hard to find 6 good people to do the job without being in a clan or living on the game day and night some people have to work for a living,
