Destiny Maintenance on November 13th

Bungie has announced that Destiny will be taken offline for several hours on Thursday November 13th to prepare for an upcoming series of updates to the game. They explained that this maintenance wouldn’t result in any new patch downloads as all changes are being done on Bungie’s end.

“Once services are restored, your experience as a player will be unchanged. The updates we’re making will be on our side, so you won’t need to download or install a new batch of content. This work will help us pave the way for the progress that was foretold in the last Weekly Update.”

The maintenance window is from 8:00am to around noon pacific time if all goes according to plan.

Bungie recently announced various additions and changes that are coming to Destiny, including new shaders, bug fixes, new economies, traffic flow adjustments and more. They are also preparing for the upcoming expansion, The Dark Below, that launches on December 9th.

My Opinion:

This should be a non-issue for the majority of gamers since it’s in the early morning hours. Of course there will be some that are annoyed by it, but I am glad they chose this time over doing things in the evening when more people are trying to raid and whatnot. I am excited about the upcoming changes and the expansion, so I welcome a bit of downtime so that Bungie can prepare things for a smooth release.
