Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster Release Date for PlayStation 4

Square Enix has announced the release date and the pre-order bonuses for the PlayStation 4 version of Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster.

The remaster will officially launch in North America on May 12, 2015.  If you pre-order it from the Square Enix Online Store or “participating retailers,” you will receive an exclusive calendar that features artwork from Final Fantasy artist Yoshitaka Amano.

Some of the key features for the PlayStation 4 version are:

  • Cross-Save Functionality – Players can transfer their save and continue their progress across the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and the PlayStation Vita.
  • Ability to Switch Between Original and Remastered Soundtrack — Play Final Fantasy X with the beautifully remastered soundtrack or, new to the PlayStation 4 system version, switch back to the original classic tracks.
  • Remote play – Supported for the Playstation Vita.

Square Enix also release the following screenshots in celebration of the announcement.

Will you be picking up the PlayStation 4 version in May?

My Opinion:

I am so torn about this version! I just bought the PlayStation 3 version last year and loved every second of it, so I don’t know if I want to buy it again.  That being said, how long am I going to keep my PS3 out to play?  I may have to pick up the PS4 version just so I can play it at any time!  It also doesn’t help that the PS4 version is $10 more expensive than the PS3 version was last year.  Come on Square, we know you’ve been hurting when it comes to Final Fantasy games lately, but charging us again, and even more at that is a little greedy.
