If you were thinking of picking up State of Decay: Year-One Survival Edition digitally, you may want to reconsider. Undead Labs and Microsoft Studios announced a host of pre-order options for physical consumers.Depending on which retailer you choose to pre-order State of Decay from, players will receive exclusive special edition knives (seen below). Unlike other weapons in the game, knives remain permanent parts of your loadout and are truly your last defense.
- GameStop will offer “The Avalonian” – A true work of art, taken off the body of a fantasy enthusiast whose excitement at having real zombies to stab with his enchanted dagger was tragically short-lived.
- Amazon will offer “The Android” – A next-generation box cutter infused with the best that modern technology has to offer. Ergonomic grip, perfectly-angled blade, and an edge that never wears out.
- Best Buy will offer “The Australian” – Now that’s a knife, mate! Intimidate crocodiles and street punks alike with this replica knife, straight from the wilds of Hollywood.
Meanwhile, players who bought the original on Xbox 360 or PC will get a 33% discount ($10) if they buy it from the Xbox Store or through Steam. Previous owners will also get a new character, Gurubani Kaur, who uniquely wields two swords.
Last but not least, anyone who picks up State of Decay at launch will get the Day One Edition which includes “Pepper’s Pack,” a digital bundle of weapons and a car.
State of Decay: Year-One Survival Edition will be hitting Xbox One and PC on April 28th for $30.
State of Decay has never been on my map. But I would be lying if I said this wasn’t a hell of a deal! Sure, these are all digital bonuses; but at a $20-30 price-tag, I’m not complaining.
