The Witcher 3: Beard Growth – Confirmed

Facial hair has always seemed to go hand in hand with video games.  From Mario’s signature mustache to Joel’s meticulously detailed scruff, and CD Projekt RED is about to take things one step further for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.

CD Projekt RED’s communication boss Michał Platkow-Gilewski says that the beard’s length will change as the player progresses through the story and visits new locations.  Platkow-Gilewski went on to say this:

“The beard grows as time passes and when Geralt moves between locations. The beard has several “states” and these states determine its length – the longest is really long but it’s not Gandalf-long.”

However, players can turn off this function by downloading one of the 16 “Beard and Hairstyle” DLC packs for free.

The developer figured that some players might prefer a predetermined and static look for Geralt, rather than having the beard continuously grow throughout the course of the game.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt hits stores on May 19th for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.

My Opinion:

I really hope this isn’t why they delayed the game.  Though I have to admit, it is kind of cool.
