In today’s Nintendo Direct, it was announced that the Wii U Virtual Console service will now have classic titles from the Nintendo 64 and Nintendo DS.
The first two games coming to the service today will be Super Mario 64 and Yoshi’s Island DS and will cost $9.99 each. In the future, N64 games will be priced between $9.99 and $12.99 and DS games will ranged between $6.99 and $9.99. N64 games were originally on the Wii Virtual Console so if you have already purchased a N64 game there, you can upgrade to the Wii U version for $2.
Both N64 and DS games support custom control configurations but N64 games will also support rumble functionality and DS games will have multiple dual screen setup options. Nintendo also announced its N64 and DS virtual console release schedule for the remainder of the month. DS games Yoshi’s Touch & Go and WarioWare Touched will be released on April 9th, Donkey Kong 64 will out April 16th, Mario Kart DS is coming April 23 and finally, the original Paper Mario will be available April 30th.
My Opinion:
I’m glad this finally happened, especially the N64 titles as they are way past due. I’m looking forward to picking up Donkey Kong 64, Mario Kart DS, and Paper Mario. I’m actually playing Super Mario 64 on my Wii U right now!
