Ever since its announcement, much ado has been made about when and for what consoles Rise of the Tomb Raider will be made available on. While it has been known for some time that the game won’t stay exclusive to Microsoft consoles forever, a timetable for the release on other platforms was not known.
Now we have an answer. Square Enix announced that Rise of the Tomb Raider will be available for PC in “early 2016.” PlayStation 4 owners will have to wait a bit longer as Lara Croft returns to the console for “Holiday 2016.” Any gamer eager to experience Lara’s next adventure this year will need to own a Microsoft console as it launches November 10th for the Xbox One and Xbox 360.
My Opinion:
While I would enjoy playing Rise of the Tomb Raider a lot sooner, as a PlayStation 4 owner I can wait a year to experience the game. I do think the timing wound up being unfortunate for the developers though. Not only is it currently slated to release on the same day as one of the most anticipated games of the year (Fallout 4), this holiday season would have been perfect to release on PlayStation consoles as Sony doesn’t have a major 1st party game releasing in the timeframe. Now the game might appear on the system after Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, a series it is often compared to, or go up against another game heroine with a bow and arrow in Horizon Zero Dawn.

All fine by me. I’ll wait a year, there’s tons of other games out there I can play instead. Not so sure this will be that important for the Xbox One.
