Sony Announces PlayStation Bundle Price Drops

Sony announced Tuesday that starting December 6th, two notable PlayStation 4 bundles will be receiving major price drops.

In this Official Playstation Blog post, Sony Vice President of Marketing John Koller wrote that both Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection PS4 bundle and the Star Wars Battlefront Standard Edition bundle will be dropped to $299 each December 6th to December 19th.

The price matches the Uncharted bundle’s lowest price over the holiday weekend, and drops Battlefront as much as a $100 compared to most retailers. Each includes a console and controller, and at least three games. Uncharted includes the main three titles in the Naughty Dog series with access to the beta for Uncharted 4 December 4th through December 13th, and Star Wars includes the Battlefront reboot from Dice, as well as four classic Star Wars games (Super Star Wars, Star Wars: Racer Revenge, Star Wars: Jedi Starfighter, and Star Wars Bounty Hunter).

My Opinion:

This is a genius move. They’re reportedly outselling the next closest competitor in the Xbox One 2 to 1. They were the most sold console over Black Friday, and most of Sony’s exclusive titles aren’t even being released until next year. This is an opportunity for those who haven’t played Uncharted to buy in before the assumed finale is released in March, and it furthers the iron grip on Battlefront. Sony didn’t even wait a week for PlayStation Experience, which makes me wonder what they could possibly have in store then. This isn’t a favor to consumers. This is putting the foot on the throat of Xbox and Nintendo.
