Overwatch shows off the golden guns of competitive mode

Overwatch players rejoice — golden gun skins are coming via competitive mode — but only if you’re good.

The arrival of Overwatch’s new competitive mode is upon us, prompting Blizzard in recent days to wander the internet touting the many new features it will bring — including golden weapon skins. How does one earn the honor of yielding such a weapon?  Simple: by finishing as a top player in a season.

Each of Overwatch’s 21 playable characters will have golden versions of their standard weapons — from McCree’s golden Peacekeeper to Winston’s Tesla Canon. The skins provide no gameplay benefits, other than striking fear down the throats of your enemies and a boost in pride and confidence for all that wield them.

Golden Overwatch weapons aren’t the only things that you’ll be seeing if you climb to the highest ranks in competitive mode either. You’ll also get other  self-described, cool cosmetic awards, awards that Blizzard has yet to detail.

Overwatch’s competitive mode hasn’t received a specific release date, but is due to release sometime later this month.

My Opinion:

Gold Guns? Of course I’m juiced for gold guns. Will I get a gold gun? Absolutely not.
