With Battlefield 1, developer EA DICE is tackling new territory with the franchise stepping into World War I. A new gameplay featurette examines the weapons in the game.
The video details how extensive research was conducted in depicting the look, sound, and feel of each weapon. The developers remark how “every weapon has its unique character and personality.” Battlefield 1 has everything from clubs to fast-firing machine guns.
In fact, many of the weapons used in World War 1 were state of the art for the time, and contributed to the birth of modern warfare. Check out the video below to see them in action.
My Opinion:
With a game as impressive looking as Battlefield 1, I wish I was more into first-person shooters or competitive online play. I do salute the developers for switching up from World War 2 as a setting and challenging themselves with depicting the combat of World War 1 in a videogame.
