Indie Studio Antagonist has finally announced a release date for its upcoming horror game, Through The Woods— and it’s sooner than you may think!

Blending Norse mythology and Japanese psychological horror, Through The Woods promises to be a uniquely terrifying third-person PC game when it drops Thursday, October 27th on Steam.

For those unfamiliar with this upcoming game, take a gander at description summary straight from Antagonist’s official website:

Through the Woods is a third-person psychological horror game set in a forest on the western shore of Norway about a mother and her missing son. Through dynamic narration, you play the mother’s re-telling of the events surrounding her son’s disappearance in a setting heavily influenced by Norse mythology and Norwegian folk tales.

With Through the Woods, the Norwegian indie studio, Antagonist, is attempting to capture the forest as they saw it as children, with all the frightening and mysterious feelings of roaming the woods alone. This is coupled with a poignant story and high quality sound design that acts as a core mechanic in the darkness of the forest.

My Opinion:

The third-person exploration and flashlight-clutching protagonist reminds me a bit of Silent Hill, so my interest is piqued. Its Norse mythology angle is definitely the most intriguing aspect, though.
