Microsoft unveils “Game Pass”

Microsoft announced this morning that coming this spring they will be offering a service called Game Pass.

Game Pass allows you unlimited access to “over a 100 Xbox One and Xbox 360 backward compatible games” all for $9.99 a month. So far the only games officially announced to be available with Game Pass are Halo 5: Guardians, Payday 2, NBA 2K16 and SoulCalibur II.

Game Pass will cycle games in and out of the catalog monthly, meaning you get to play as much of the game as you want for a month! If you decide you want to keep the game you can purchase the game for 20% off (purchasing add ons will be only a 10% discount).

Game Pass begins today for select members of the Xbox insider program with a select number of games. Xbox live Gold members will also receive exclusive access before the official launch.

My Opinion

I think it is great Microsoft is doing this. 10 dollars a month seems rather steep but if Microsoft plays their cards correctly and gives us good games, then I think it’s worth it. I also love the fact that it will be a constant cycle, it’s almost like a bigger and better Games with Gold! Check back in the coming months for more information to be released!

  1. I’m pretty excited for it, especially as a good way to play games that I may have missed, but never felt like buying. It should be a good way to expand people’s libraries, and could be a great service for those new to they system to see what Xbox is all about!
