Super Smash Bros. for Wii U Review

THE DEFINITIVE PARTY GAME

Let me set the scene: It is 11 PM on a Friday, ten of my friends are sitting around the big screen (beer in hand) as we focus our unblinking attention to Dark Samus, Wario, and Donkey Kong decking it out on Brinstar. Amid the cheers and the insults, Meta Ridley comes swooping down, knocking everyone off the map. The tide of battle shifts as everyone targets the flying purple foe. In the rush of the excitement, I quickly realized that gaming hasn’t given me a similar experience in nearly a decade. Not only is Sunset Overdrive my first re-introduction to Insomniac Games since Spyro the Dragon, but it is also my introduction to Xbox One titles. And what an introduction it turned out to be. Finding itself as an insane cross between inFAMOUS and Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater, Sunset Overdrive delivers a high-octane, laugh-out-loud experience sure to delight any fan of video games.

 CHANGING MINDS ON SPACE-PUZZLERS

It had only been a week since my review of Constant C–a sci-fi platform puzzler with an overarching story about the mass death of a space station–when I was tasked with reviewing The Swapper. Avid readers of this site will know that Constant C is the lowest reviewed game on our website to date. Let’s just say I wasn’t thrilled to be playing another “space puzzle” so soon. After ten minutes of playing The Swapper, my mind had been changed. After thirty minutes, I was hooked by the captivating story. By the end, I had questioned all of my in-game decisions and immediately dived back in. The Swapper is a breath of fresh air in an otherwise stale genre and will undoubtedly change the minds of non-believers. Continue reading The Swapper Review
