THROWBACK HORROR

One needs only to glance at my history as a writer to see that Resident Evil is my favorite video game series. Specifically the first three titles, which both established and subsequently improved upon the survival horror genre on Sony’s PlayStation. While that type of game, with tank controls and static camera angles, are viewed today as relics of the past, Rainy Night CreationsVaccine may be a vital shot in the arm for this dormant genre. Seasons After Fall Review

FLOWERS ALMOST IN BLOOM

Seasons After Fall is a beautiful 2D puzzle-platformer where players’ heartstrings will be pulled throughout the game. The artstyle and score foster a gorgeous ballad, but the basic platforming and unrewarding exploration holds the game back from being an exceptional experience. Rime Review

A BIT OFF RHYTHM

Rime is a beautifully somber puzzle-adventure by Tequila Works that aims to provide an emotional experience similar to Journey and The Witness. However, even with intriguing locations and a moving score, Rime offers an unimpressive package that falls short of its promise.  Continue reading Rime Review

The Walking Dead: A New Frontier – Episode 5 Review

THE FAMILY YOU CHOOSE

The final episode of The Walking Dead: A New Frontier pushes the family boundaries to its limits. With powerful decisions and meaningful dialogues, “From The Gallows” concludes the season on a strong note.  Continue reading The Walking Dead: A New Frontier – Episode 5 Review

DISTILLED RELATIONSHIPS

The Walking Dead: A New Frontier Episode 4 unfortunately continues the downward spiral started from the previous episode. Though “Thicker Than Water” starts off well with momentary character development, that quickly shifts to shallow plot devices solely meant to progress the story. TYPICAL FAMILY DRAMA

The Walking Dead: A New Frontier unfortunately takes a substantial hit in it’s third episode, “Above the Law”. As we fall deeper into the complicated family dynamics with Javi and company, tensions within the newly introduced community simmer, but fails to create a strong episode.

MAKE THE PLAN.
IMMEDIATELY CHANGE THE PLAN.

After a strong first episode, The Walking Dead: A New Frontier, “Ties That Bind Part 2”, continues the tightly paced second installment of the season. The action packed episode draws on some similar themes as the first half of “Ties That Bind” while introducing deeper backstories to characters. A NEW PERSPECTIVE

The Walking Dead: – A New Frontier, the latest season to the series from Telltale, simultaneously continues the story that has been crafted over two seasons while introducing a cluster of compelling characters. With the  inaugural episode, “Ties That Bind Part I”, Telltale creates a new dynamic for the players to engage with, all the while improving on the best parts of the series.

Telltale’s Guardians of the Galaxy: Episode 1 Review

Come and Get Your Love

Marvel’s original Guardians of the Galaxy film was the snarky adrenaline shot that the Marvel Cinematic Universe needed. With a colorful cast of assholes brandishing hearts of gold, the team stood as a gateway into the wacky and wonderful reaches of the entertainment juggernaut’s bizarre universe. Telltale’s take on the swashbuckling antiheroes is heavily inspired by their movie counterparts and gives players intimate access to an established team in the aftermath of a massive, improbable victory. When this many egos are stitched together, their fabric is a labyrinth that is a joy to navigate, and Telltale’s Guardians of the Galaxy: Episode 1 sets up an irreverent adventure with a surprisingly emotional underbelly.
