Promising news for Microsoft as it was announced this week that the sales of Xbox One for the week of November 2nd had tripled in comparison to the week before.
This news came from Corporate Vice President of Devices and Studios Yusuf Mehdi which was announced on Xbox Wire, Microsoft’s Xbox blog. Mehdi also stated that Xbox One had led console sales for the last two weeks, and would soon reach 10 million consoles sold into retailers. This is a big statement for Microsoft. It’s worth noting that no actual sales numbers were given, and does not account for actual consoles sold into homes.
The upswing in sales can be attributed to several factors: October’s release of Insomniac’s critically acclaimed game Sunset Overdrive, the recent $50.00 price drop on Xbox Ones that took effect on November 2nd, and the just released, hotly anticipated Halo: The Master Chief Collection.
My Opinion:
I’m glad to see the Xbox One finally gaining steam. While I am a Sony fan at heart, I enjoy the games that the Xbox One has to offer.. And with big releases on the horizon for the Xbox One next year, such as Quantum Break, and Halo 5, I’d expect 2015 will be even better for Microsoft.
Adam Leonard is an Associate Writer at MONG. He is glad he is starting to get some use out of his Xbox One. He is severely stoked for Quantum Break, though, he’d also really like an Alan Wake 2, just in case you are listening Remedy.
