Super Smash Bros. Sells Big on 3DS

Super Smash Bros. for 3DS is proving to be a real smash hit for Nintendo.

Since its October 3rd release, Super Smash Bros. has sold over 1 million physical and digital copies combined in the US. Super Smash Bros. came in as the second highest selling game on any system in the month of October, having sold 485,000 copies.

The news of Super Smash Bros’. sales make it the 10th 3DS game to have sold more than 1 million copies in the US, joining the ranks of such games as The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3DS, Pokémon X and Y, and the system’s biggest seller:  Mario Kart 7, which has sold 3.62 million copies in the US.

Super Smash Bros. for 3DS’ big brother Super Smash Bros. for Wii U releases on November 21st.

My Opinion:

Nintendo has been getting flack for the last couple of years. Granted, most of this stems from missteps they took, but I’ve been a Nintendo fan my entire life and it made me sad to see them kicked around by both the public and the media alike. It’s been nice to see them finally getting some love, whether it be for the beloved Mario Kart 8, the critically acclaimed Bayonetta 2, or either of the new Smash Bros. titles. Things are looking up for Nintendo, and I think things are only going to get better in 2015.
