Rockstar Finally Reveals Grand Theft Auto Online Heists

Ever since the release of Grand Theft Auto V, fans have been waiting patiently, or impatiently, for the major reason for GTA Online; the ability to conduct heists in 4 player co-op. Now that wait is coming to an end. With a new trailer and an interview with IGN, Rockstar dished out on what will be the biggest update to Grand Theft Auto V to date.

The new trailer shows off some gameplay of what heists will be like, and they seem to be even more epic than those of the single player campaign. Talking with IGN, Imran Sarwar (lead mission designer at Rockstar) had this to say when asked why heists took too long:

Our initial idea was to build on the concept of Story Mode heists to make a new gameplay experience for GTA Online that was more focused on cooperation, where everyone could play to their individual strengths and feel like they had a stake in the outcome.

Sarwar also mentioned what players should expect from heists:

Each heist requires 4 players all at rank 12 or above, with one player as the designated heist leader. Leading a heist requires owning a high-end apartment so that you have a room available to set up the planning board. From there you’ll be able to launch missions as the leader, starting with the prep work and building up to the score itself.

The original interview also includes information on how much the original idea of heists has been expanded upon after the original launch of Grand Theft Auto V.

The Grand Theft Auto Online: Heists update is set to arrive early 2015 for all versions of the game.

My Opinion:

I need to renew my PlayStation Plus subscription. I’m not a big multiplayer gamer, but this looks exciting. I love Grand Theft Auto V and having the PS4 version makes me want this even more. I hope we get to knock over a casino like we did in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. I won’t be surprised if the Heists update will come out on the same day or a few days after the PC launch.
