Remember the movie Scott Pilgrim vs. The World? In it, there is an “extra life” sprite straight from the video game tie-in, Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Videogame. Tribute, the same people whose work was featured in a movie about fighting and violence combined with humor, brings to the public Mercenary Kings, a Kickstarted video game with violence combined with humor. So, will Mercenary Kings be a crowning achievement, or will it be laughed out of the court?

Diablo 3: Xbox 360 Review
I’ve lately found myself growing tired of shooters and itching to crawl through some zombie-infested dungeons on my hands and knees looking for loot; I also found myself wanting something with good coop which seems to be a dying art within the gaming industry. Enter Diablo 3, a dungeon crawler with good coop. It’s nice when the square pegs fit perfectly into the square Diabloles1.
Well, perhaps not perfectly. Diablo 3 was what I was looking for, but it isn’t a perfect game. It gets the job done, but it’s a bit of a puzzle really. Parts of it just Diablow2 while other parts are gloriously fun and wrought with good game design. Continue reading Diablo 3: Xbox 360 Review
Don’t Starve Review
I will not try to deny it, I do like food and I definitely don’t like to starve. At first glance, Don’t Starve, seemed like a walk in the park. When I entered the game, I died of starvation on the fifth day. I told myself, “Good job, Shawn. You can’t even follow the title.” This is because Don’t Starve strives to make you survive using your wits in a procedurally generated world. So, will Don’t Starve survive on the market, or will it be starving for players?
Real Life Review
Thousands upon thousands of years ago, an idea was put into place to create a society of people who live lives, work jobs, and enjoy having different ideas and dreams. Now, the time has come to see how real life fares at this time and place. So, will Real Life live up to great expectations, or will it die a terrible death?

In another parallel reality, Irrational Games is working on another BioShock with Ken Levine at the helm. In our universe, it’s completely wishful thinking. Infamous: Second Son Review
Smoking Out the Competition
When the “next gen” consoles were revealed last year, I was immediately won over by Sony. Sure, Knack looked endearing in a Pixar-esque way. Killzone: Shadow Fall looked stunning, even to a self-proclaimed FPS hater. But none of these truly affected me. It was the reveal of inFAMOUS: Second Son that locked in my preorder, and kept me locked in.
Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes Review
Metal… Gear?!
Metal Gear Solid titles tend to cultivate through distinctive qualities that separate them from the other titles within the franchise. The latest entry to the series, Ground Zeroes, is representative of this tendency to an abnormal extent. Continue reading Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes Review
Tales of Symphonia HD Review
It has become more or less common knowledge that I am a modern JRPG super fan and that the Tales series holds a very special place in my heart. With that said, I was super excited to hear that Tales of Symphonia was going to be remastered in HD for the PlayStation 3 because I haven’t had a chance to play any of the Tales games that were released before 2005. Continue reading Tales of Symphonia HD Review
South Park: The Stick of Truth Review
I will admit it: I am not the biggest fan of South Park. When an episode comes on the air and I happen to catch it, I will watch it and enjoy it, but I rarely seek out new episodes or try to catch up on the series. When The Stick of Truth was announced, I was skeptical whether or not the creators of the game would be able to make this South Park game accessible to people like me while also keeping fans of the show satisfied. So, will The Stick of Truth truly be magical, or will it simply be a stick in the mud?

It has come to the point in time when games with zombies have swarmed the gaming industry like a bunch of bees. Continue reading Dead Nation: Apocalypse Edition Review
