Kingdom Hearts has a Disney problem

Despite releasing in one of the the most critically rich periods in gaming history, Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 + 2.5 ReMix effortlessly pulled me back into the beloved marriage of Disney and Final Fantasy. As the stellar collection’s nostalgic mix of music, action and character washed over me, I couldn’t help but reminisce about a simpler time. Not just in terms of my personal journey (playing the original as a 9-year-old fresh off divorce to now as 23-year-old navigating the perils of young-adult life), but in regards to the series itself. See, Kingdom Hearts has a big problem, and it’s defined by everyone’s favorite House of Mouse. The issue is simple: Kingdom Hearts doesn’t have enough Disney.

Kingdom Hearts 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue Review

Kingdom Come

While most of the Kingdom Hearts series’ gibberish names are of little consequence, the franchise’s third HD collection is perfectly described by its title. Kingdom Hearts 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue is the perfect introduction to Kingdom Hearts 3, featuring two games and an HD movie that flow directly into the anticipated sequel. The collection is aimed squarely at longtime fans of the series, featuring Dream Drop Distance, 0.2 Birth by Sleep – A Fragmentary Passage (0.2) and X Back Cover. Without the necessary background knowledge, however, newcomers with find themselves lost in the convoluted tangle of narrative surrounding some of gaming’s finest action-RPG gameplay.

Final Kingdom Hearts 2.8 trailer gives gameplay and story hints

The final Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue trailer was released earlier today, giving fans of the series a reason to celebrate amidst a dry spell of news regarding the third entry in the popular series. The trailer features a tantalizing look at the Kingdom Hearts 3 engine in action and the mechanical depth of 0.2 Birth by Sleep – A Fragmentary Passage.

Kingdom Hearts 2.8 to miss December, now out January 24th

During PlayStation’s conference at TGS 2016 Square Enix revealed that Kingdom Hearts 2.8 — in classic Kingdom Heart’s fashion — has been delayed from its previous release window of December 2016 to January 24th. Retro-Grade: Kingdom Hearts 2
