It’s that time of the month again folks. The time where gamers collectively gather all over the internet to criticize what free games they get this month. So, who plundered the other’s fanboys for all their self-worth and gratification in life? Who was the victor in June? Let’s take a look. REVIEW: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutants in Manhattan
“TONIGHT, I DINE ON TURTLE SOUP!”
The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (TMNT) have had a somewhat checkered past in the gaming world. It all began with an insanely difficult game for the Nintendo Entertainment System, reached an early peak with an excellent arcade game, and the rest has been a wonky string of mostly decent titles. How does their latest adventure, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutants in Manhattan fare? Continue reading REVIEW: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutants in Manhattan

New Destiny expansion ‘Rise of Iron’ leaked
A new Destiny expansion, titled ‘Rise of Iron’, has been leaked through marketing materials that appeared on Reddit on May 19th.

The poster features Lord Saladin, a NPC who runs the monthly multiplayer event ‘Iron Banner’, wielding a large hammer in front of a snow covered ruin with wolves at his side. Kotaku confirmed the authenticity of the image with its sources, which also added that the expansion will feature a “likely fallen themed” raid and be “larger than both year-one DLC packs.”
The leak seems to follow Activision’s previous assertion that it will release “a large new expansion” in 2016 to be followed with a sequel sometime in 2017. Expect to discover details of the new content during the PlayStation E3 press conference on June 13th.
Destiny was originally released for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One and Xbox 360 in September 2014. It was followed by The Dark Below and House of Wolves in Year One, with The Taken King kicking off Year Two in September 2015.
My Opinion:
Destiny has had some serious competition in the form of The Division since the release of the stellar Taken King. It is good to know that Activision isn’t leaving the game on life support until the release of the sequel in 2017. Destiny‘s raids are some of the best gameplay experiences out there, so it is promising that this will include a new challenge for players. However, it remains to be seen if the expansion will be able to bring me or other guardians back amidst a stellar fall lineup.

FLASHBACK REVIEW | CAPTAIN AMERICA: SUPER SOLDIER
“I CAN DO THIS ALL DAY!”
Move over, G.I. Joe! There’s only one true American hero, and I guarantee his shield could knock you and your wussified “Kung-Fu grip” on your butt in the blink of an eye. Can this flag-wearing, Hitler-punching badass overcome the stigma of terrible movie-to-game adaptations with Captain America: Super Soldier? The Walking Dead: Michonne Review
NOT DEAD YET
Telltale Games has most notably built its name on games like Tales from the Borderlands and The Wolf Among Us, amongst a few others more recently. One franchise Telltale has returned to more frequently than the rest is its Walking Dead series, and that’s no surprise considering the critical and commercial success the developer has found in that zombie-ridden-verse. So for some, the release of a mini-series set far away from the characters in Telltale’s established plot may seem like a cash-grab. When we notice that The Walking Dead: Michonne is only three episodes long, as opposed to the five to six episode seasons we’ve become accustomed to, brows start to furrow in dim expectation.

Star Wars Battlefront DLC info finally released
After waiting for what seemed like eons to hear anything about the first expansion for EA Games’ Star Wars: Battlefront, we finally got our announcement for a first taste of the details of the Outer Rim DLC, and you’re not going to be thrilled about it. [read more]
Along with a new mode and two new maps, Star Wars: Battlefront will be adding two brand new heroes to the mix. You can now play as Greedo, the alien bounty hunter who the Star Wars community firmly believes was unjustly murdered in cold blood by Han Solo. And the second character is Nien Nunb; that short, fishy-looking alien whose name you definitely didn’t know before this was the copilot of the Millennium Falcon in Return of the Jedi, and makes a brief appearance as an X-Wing pilot in The Force Awakens. Now I don’t know about you, but I am just itching to get my hands on those B-list characters that even huge Star Wars nerds like me forgot even existed to add an even bigger sense of blah to an already unfortunately disappointing game.

The new mode, Extraction, also seems intriguing. As a Rebel, you will be tasked with finding a shipment of what EA calls “much needed supplies” and will be responsible for getting those supplies to the extraction zone, which sounds a lot like capture the flag or a ground variation of the Fighter Squadron mode. As an Imperial, you will be tasked with stopping the Rebels. So yeah, capture the flag. Nothing new or super exciting, but it’ll add something to the game that it desperately needs: more.
Not all is lost, though, as the new maps sound interesting enough. One takes place on Sullust (again) at a smelting factory, and another takes place on Tatooine (again), but in the throne room of Jabba’s Palace. I remember his palace not exactly being large in the movie, though, so we’ll have to see how it plays. My main gripe is that the first DLC for the game features planets that were already in the main game, giving almost no change of scenery. With a universe as vast as one in Star Wars, it just seems lazy that EA would build a new map on the same landscapes. Now I haven’t seen the maps yet, so all this scrutiny might prove fruitless once the DLC drops. They could be awesome. We’ll just have to wait and see.
But how long will we have to wait? We don’t know.EA has neglected to mention a release date for Outer Rim, but I’m sure more details are coming soon. While a price hasn’t been revealed for the individual DLC pack yet, you can still pick up the Season Pass, which includes Outer Rim and three others slated for later this year, for $50 in the Xbox Live and PlayStation stores.
