My Time With the Destiny Alpha – Minor Qualms

Now, with all of these roses I’ve given to Destiny, I did have some issues with it. Some of them I’m sure were issues just pertaining to the alpha. Regardless of anything I say here, nothing is remotely bad enough to make me not throw all of my money at Bungie for Destiny. Most of these are minor little issues that I felt I needed to point out considering just how many good things I’ve said (and will say) about the game. Quick Time Event – What Popular Games Are Overrated?

On the 6th episode of Quick Time Event, the team discussed the most popular games they could think of that they feel are extremely overrated. So what are some of yours? Continue reading Quick Time Event – What Popular Games Are Overrated?

My Time With the Destiny Alpha – Second Screen Experiences

As I played Destiny I also got more and more curious about other places I could go to get my Destiny fix. As I made my way through the world, killing enemies and helping out dead Ghosts, every now and then I would get a black and gold pop-up at the bottom of the screen that told me I had unlocked new Grimoire Cards. My Time With the Destiny Alpha – Leveling Up and Gear

In my experience with Destiny so far, leveling is a bit of an interesting process. Your character and your gear both have levels and upgrade tiers, that’s obvious, though I’m not sure that they really matter beyond serving as milestones for unlocking things. Even without leveling up, your skills will continue to advance and upgrade as you use them. Continue reading My Time With the Destiny Alpha – Leveling Up and Gear

MONG Podcast – Should Pokémon Come to PlayStation?

This week was CRAZY! Lou was fighting bears, Myles started crying on the podcast, and the team nerded out over Dragon Ball Z and the possibility of Pokémon on PlayStation consoles.

On this week’s episode the team talked about Tales of Zestiria, the Summer Steam Sale, Outlast on Xbox One, The Last of Us: Remastered, Mario Kart 8’s DLC, Metro Redux, The Witcher 3’s leaked documents, and Nintendo losing a lawsuit against Phillips.

After discussing what is going to happen to Nintendo after losing its battle against Phillips, we decided to talk about the possibility of Nintendo games moving to other platforms; specifically Pokémon to PlayStation consoles. What do you think about the idea? Would you welcome Pokémon on the Vita? Would it be a “system seller”? Do you think the improved graphics would make it a better game? Continue reading MONG Podcast – Should Pokémon Come to PlayStation?

My Time With the Destiny Alpha – The Crucible

As a gamer, what always draws me into a game is the co-op multiplayer. A game including a strong co-op system is one surefire way to sell me on a title. That’s the factor that got me interested in Destiny. All of that said, I’m probably going to spend hours in the competitive multiplayer of Destiny as well. The competitive multiplayer is called the Crucible and it’s quite a fitting name. Continue reading My Time With the Destiny Alpha – The Crucible

My Time With the Destiny Alpha – Exploration

Now we get to the fun part. Remember when I said I never wanted to see Old Russia again? Destiny proved that to be an untrue statement over and over again while I played. As a matter of fact, I can’t wait for the beta; even after having driven, walked, and shot through Old Russia for hours on end, I still want to see more of it. Continue reading My Time With the Destiny Alpha – Exploration

My Time With the Destiny Alpha – The Devils’ Lair

Once I had my fill of the Tower (read: spent all of my money on gear) I headed back out. In my excitement I decided to jump into The Devils’ Lair strike mission which was made available by beating the first mission. The Devils’ Lair was a mission to infiltrate a Fallen stronghold and take down the big bad enemy hidden within. I queued up for it alone, and was (lucky) tossed into the instance with two other players. That was my first experience playing in a fireteam. My Time With the Destiny Alpha – The Tower

Once I had done the dirty on the Hive and Fallen enemies in the first mission, the game ushered me back to the “Set Destination” screen. It was a screen that I got well acquainted with and the direct cause of my picking up another space ship. The set destination screen was a flashy menu for picking where I wanted to go next, and that’s not a bad thing. Seeing my ship (or ships if I was in a fireteam) orbiting around Earth was fairly cool.
