Final Fantasy XV and the power of friendship

From its opening moments, Final Fantasy XV is a game that is completely built upon the bond of its four protagonists. The game drops players into a relationship that has been seasoned and seared over many years and experiences. While supplemental material, namely the Brotherhood anime, fleshes out the individual characters and their relationships with player character Prince Noctis, the game is designed in a way that even those with no prior knowledge can sense their deep connections through mechanics and acting. The result is the most real friendship that I have ever seen in gaming.

Did Sony announce The Last of Us Part II too early?

Sony’s fan-focused PlayStation Experience (PSX) event is in full swing in Anaheim, California this weekend, and the console-maker/publisher didn’t disappoint with its annual keynote that kickstarted the festivities. In a conference that featured Uncharted story DLC, Marvel v. Capcom Infinite, a slew of classic remakes/masters and smaller titles perfect for the passionate crowd, The Last of Us Part II was the megaton announcement that pushed supporters into rabid fervor. As a sequel to one of the best games ever made, the game was the most impressive reveal in Sony’s entire arsenal, but it begs the question: was the game announced too early?

Today was the third annual PlayStation Experience. This two Day event shows what the PlayStation brand has in store for the next year. The first show was in 2014 with a complete reveal of the then-new PlayStation 4. This year, it was all about the games.
