Grand Kingdom Review

A GRAND ADVENTURE
(IT’S EVEN IN THE NAME)

After getting a taste of Grand Kingdom with the Beta in April and May, I was excited to finally try out the full-fledged game. The intriguing battle mechanics and customization seemed to be the highlight of the Beta, with the loose storyline as its hinderance. Did Grand Kingdom offer a grand adventure or grand disaster?

Neon Chrome Review

MONOCHROMATIC

Games in recent years have begun blending their genres in new and interesting ways. Role-Playing games and Science-fiction elements paired with a first-person shooter gave birth to Destiny. Playing a pinball game mixed with the space adventures of Samus Aran created Metroid Prime Pinball. Seemingly odd combinations that ended up being wonderful experiences. However, Neon Chrome combines a top-down shooter with RPG elements, resulting in a monochromatic experience that seems just a few shades off from its potential.

Stories: The Path of Destinies Review

DECIDING YOUR ADVENTURE

Making a decision is always difficult. Should I eat a bagel with cream cheese or a bowl of oatmeal? Am I going to take the highway or see the scenic route? Will I keep my current mundane job or take a risk and fly to a new job? Most decisions are innocuous and minimally alter the course of your life. Others though, drastically shape your future – for better or worse. Stories: The Path of Destinies toys with the idea of choices to entirely shape it’s storyline to craft a good single-player adventure.

Blizzard’s First shooter: One of the Generation’s Best

Imagine if Team Fortress 2 had a baby with a more awesome version of Team Fortress 2, and that baby was raised by Blizzard — that is Overwatch. Not a MOBA, not Battleborn, Overwatch is a multiplayer,first-person hero-shooter that emphasizes cooperative gameplay over the solo-Rambo route. Combining smooth, addictive gameplay, a cast full of interesting and distinct characters, and a refreshing presentation — Blizzard has emerged with yet another cash cow on its hands. Despite not usually being a fan of multiplayer games  — Overwatch, is the most fun I’ve had with a game in years.  Continue reading Overwatch Review

Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End Review

ONE LAST ADVENTURE

Forget what you know about Uncharted. In the opening hours of Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, it’s clear that we are dealing with a game that cares more about the characters than the heavy set pieces past games became known for. Even in the first hour, we get to know more about Nathan Drake than we did in the past three games. Can Naughty Dog give Nathan Drake the final outing he deserves? Continue reading Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End Review

FLASHBACK REVIEW | CAPTAIN AMERICA: SUPER SOLDIER

“I CAN DO THIS ALL DAY!”

Move over, G.I. Joe! There’s only one true American hero, and I guarantee his shield could knock you and your wussified “Kung-Fu grip” on your butt in the blink of an eye. Can this flag-wearing, Hitler-punching badass overcome the stigma of terrible movie-to-game adaptations with Captain America: Super Soldier? Continue reading FLASHBACK REVIEW | CAPTAIN AMERICA: SUPER SOLDIER

The Walking Dead: Michonne Review

NOT DEAD YET

Telltale Games has most notably built its name on games like Tales from the Borderlands and The Wolf Among Us, amongst a few others more recently. One franchise Telltale has returned to more frequently than the rest is its Walking Dead series, and that’s no surprise considering the critical and commercial success the developer has found in that zombie-ridden-verse. So for some, the release of a mini-series set far away from the characters in Telltale’s established plot may seem like a cash-grab. When we notice that The Walking Dead: Michonne is only three episodes long, as opposed to the five to six episode seasons we’ve become accustomed to, brows start to furrow in dim expectation.
