The Awakened Fate Ultimatum Review
NOT-SO-ROGUELIKE
What if God was one of us? It’s been 20 years since the question was asked in that one-hit wonder song by Joan Osborne, and now we finally have the answer! Turns out it involves God crawling through a series of randomly-generated dungeons, bludgeoning the life out of a legion of creatures too cute to be called monsters. At least, that’s how it seems in the new RPG from Nippon Ichi Software, The Awakened Fate Ultimatum. Does it blaspheme the name of the great roguelike genre, or will it convert you to a true believer? Continue reading The Awakened Fate Ultimatum Review
Dead or Alive 5 Last Round Review (PS3)
ROUND 3. FIGHT!
Dead or Alive 5 Last Round has had a rather troubled launch so far. The game was supposed to launch February 17th on all platforms, but technical issues saw the PlayStation 3 release pushed back a week (with the Steam release moved to March 30). The past couple weeks have seen a myriad of players complaining of game-breaking bugs in the current-gen and Xbox 360 releases, some resulting in losses of save data for previous versions of the game. It looks like a big mess. While Team Ninja tries to sort all that out, I was able to spend some bug-free time with the far more stable PS3 version of the game. Are the last round of updates to Koei Tecmo’s 3D fighter worth a third look? Continue reading Dead or Alive 5 Last Round Review (PS3)

MAKING BOMBS OUT OF BEEHIVES
In 2013, developer Gust released the fourteenth title in the long-running Atelier series: Atelier Ayesha: The Alchemist of Dusk. Like the previous Atelier games, it was an RPG with an elaborate crafting system and a near-unpronounceable name. Now, two years later, the game has made the jump from the PlayStation 3 to the PlayStation Vita, complete with new content (and all the original DLC included). Whether or not you’ve already experienced Ayesha’s journey on the PS3, read on to find out whether this port is worth your time and money.
