Supergiant Games hit the public eye with an absolute bang in 2011 with the release of Bastion, a beautiful, isometric adventure game with top-down shooter elements. Bastion was an atmospheric masterpiece, combining a great art style with clever narration and a soundtrack that few games have managed to best. Now in 2014, Supergiant Games has released Transistor, but does it live up to Bastion’s quality? Continue reading Transistor Review

Murdered: Soul Suspect Review
Some time ago, I heard about Murdered:Soul Suspect and was immediately excited to see a new series taking shape under the hands of Square Enix. Back in the 90s, when Square Enix was Squaresoft, a large line of titles came from their making. Most of these games were of the Final Fantasy lineup, though they developed a wide variety of titles. Going back to Murdered: Soul Suspect, my question is this: Can Square Enix live up to the titles that made them relevant in the 90’s? Continue reading Murdered: Soul Suspect Review

TAKING THE GOLD
Mario Kart 8 is fantastic. If you are reading this, you know that. If you have a Wii U, there is already a 33% chance you own it. Seeing how the game is known across the board as an instant classic, this review is going to be used to highlight the good, the bad, and the ugly of Mario Kart 8 — what should Nintendo do to perfect the series? Conception II: Children of the Seven Stars Review (Vita)
For some time now, I’ve expected the emergence of the “Persona-like”, a new subgenre of RPGs that combine dungeon-crawling combat with social/dating sim elements. The concept was codified in 2006 by Persona 3, and it just works so well that I’m surprised it took this long for other games to be inspired by it. Spike Chunsoft’s Conception series is, to my knowledge, the first attempt at creating another franchise inspired by the Persona formula. Now that Conception II has been released outside of Japan, us Westerners get to see how this experiment went. Continue reading Conception II: Children of the Seven Stars Review (Vita)

Crazy Nazi Robo-Dogs!?
Wolfenstein: a nostalgic title for gamers the world over, just not for me. I seem to be one of the few people in existence that has never played a Wolfenstein game. In fact, I had never even heard of Wolfenstein until this one was announced last year. But I was excited when I found out that it is an alternate history first person shooter. I know what you’re thinking: I don’t deserve the right to review a game with such a rich history since this will only be my first in the line; well I did anyways. So did Wolfenstein: The New Order quench my thirst for a good alternate history game? Continue reading Wolfenstein: The New Order Review
