According to a Bloomberg interview with Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Amie, pre-orders for Super Smash Bros. for Wii U have surpassed those of Mario Kart 8 and are currently at a record high.

Nintendo to Release “Limited-Time Offer” amiibo Figures
Nintendo announced that not all amiibo figures for Nintendo will be freely available. Nintendo’s president, Satoru Iwata, announced during Nintendo’s financial briefing that some amiibo figures will be available as “limited-time offers” for the Wii U and 3DS.
