Retro Review: Halloween Atari 2600

DOES THIS CLASSIC ATARI GAME STILL MAKE THE… CUT?

Halloween for Atari 2600 is one of the earliest horror games out there. It actually predates the term “survival horror” by over a decade. It is currently one of the rarest and most valuable Atari 2600 games out there, routinely selling for over $100 for the cartridge by itself (most Atari games sell for around $1). Unfortunately, due to its rarity, age, the fact that it is out of print, not on any digital collections, and on a system that isn’t produced any more, you will have to brush up on your eBay skills to actually play this one.

My Top 10 Survival Horror Games Ever

October is horror month! Every year, around this time, I celebrate my favorite genre and holiday by playing as many survival horror games as I possibly can. This year I will be putting up an article a day for the whole month of October on survival horror. I thought that today would be a good day to put up my personal top ten list and I would love to see your favorites as well in the comments below.

Wasteland 2 Review

SWEET, SWEET, NOSTALGIA

The original Wasteland released over 25 years ago in 1988. To put that in perspective, that is five United States presidents, seven Olympics and six console generations ago. Perhaps the greatest legacy of the original game was the Fallout franchise. It was supposed to be Wasteland 2, but a feud with EA forced a name change. Finally we have a true sequel to the original game and a game that can proudly stand with the PC-RPG greats.

Wasteland 2 Preview

Recently, the folks over at inXile Entertainment were kind enough to provide us with a beta code for their upcoming game, Wasteland 2.  inXile would like us to stress that the game is still an early access beta, and is therefore not completely finished. I ran into a few bugs, glitches, and rough edges, but what I saw looked promising. I can’t wait to see what the game looks like with a bit more polish on it.

Warframe Review Xbox One

A GOOD GAME MIRED IN SMALL PROBLEMS

In 2008 the Canadian studio Digital Extremes released a game called Dark Sector, a gritty action game about a special operations soldier who got infected by a new biological weapon that turned his arm into an oversized throwing star. It did okay, but it had strayed away from its original vision of an awesome space ninja in a super-powered suit of armor. Enter Warframe. Digital Extremes took that vision and turned it into the free-to-play mission-based shooter we have today. It originally released for PlayStation 4 last November as a launch game and it has been in beta form on PC since March 2013. Finally Xbox One owners get a chance to see what this game is all about.

Phil Fish is Not a Monster

To say that Phil Fish is a controversial figure in the game industry would be a drastic understatement. From his only game’s announcement to his latest internet meltdown, his infamy has grown by leaps and bounds. Since Fez first popped up on the scene in 2008, it captured the attention of the indie world and set its creator on an epic downward spiral. Who is this man? This monster? This crazy Wolverine-hipster?

EA Access Beta Preview

EA Access is a service much like Games with Gold or the Instant Game Collection (the free game programs that come with Xbox Live Gold and PlayStation Plus Respectively). It was announced by EA last week and I was lucky enough to find a beta key waiting in my inbox when I got home. I managed to download and install it with no issues.
