These words bring a flood of intense nostalgia for a host of twenty-somethings that had their childhoods shaped by Nintendo’s iconic Pokémon franchise. They are trigger words that transform us into excited children inspired by the adventure and friendship that beckons us into the greater world. 20 years after many of us first experienced the wonderful Pokémon Red and Blue, that promise has finally been fulfilled.

Well, boys and girls, that blessed time is upon us: holiday season, when the year’s biggest and most-anticipated video games finally hit us one-after-another until our wallets cry out for mercy. How Final Fantasy VII Ruined JRPGs For Me

I still remember the year I wrote off JRPGs completely and the game that caused it. It was 1997 and I was 11 at the time. I had gotten a PlayStation a few months ago for Christmas and at that time I was playing Tomb Raider, Resident Evil and other PlayStation classics. Wasteland 2 Preview

Recently, the folks over at inXile Entertainment were kind enough to provide us with a beta code for their upcoming game, Wasteland 2.  inXile would like us to stress that the game is still an early access beta, and is therefore not completely finished. I ran into a few bugs, glitches, and rough edges, but what I saw looked promising. I can’t wait to see what the game looks like with a bit more polish on it.
