The seventeenth iteration of “Video Games I’m Thankful For” brings us back to modern day gaming. Released a little more than a year ago, this duo of games, in my opinion, reinvigorated the series for veterans and made for a solid entry point for new players. Let’s see if you agree:
As the introduction mentions, I absolutely think that these two games helped bring the series back for players who started in the golden days of Pokémon Blue and Pokémon Red. With the emergence of Mega Evolutions, more classic Pokémon were once again in the forefront. Pokémon like Charizard, Mewtwo, Alakazam, Gengar, and many more took center stage in a new and interesting way.
Not only did the two games bring back older Pokémon, they also introduced the series to the 3D handheld world. The beautiful transition to the Nintendo 3DS went off without a hitch (for the most part) and resurfaced my love of the Pokémon series. With the recent releases of Pokémon Omega Ruby and Pokémon Alpha Sapphire, the return of the series seems stronger than ever.
What games are you thankful for? What games have a special spot in your heart?
Come back tomorrow for the next game of the series!
