The next iteration of the “Video Games I’m Thankful For” goes back to the Nintendo 64 games. This was the first successful spin-off console game of the series that offered a non-traditional way of experiencing the world. Let’s see the series and game:
The idea is childishly simple – take pictures. That’s it. Somehow though, this game is still a topic of discussion over a decade after its existence. We could criticize the extremely short storyline or the limited amount of Pokémon, but instead, this game paved the way for the series. Up until this game, the only Pokémon console game was Hey You, Pikachu!, which was flat out bad. Pokémon Snap offered hope that the Pokémon universe could thrive without only having Pokémon battles.
Even more so, the replay value of the game was great; trying to beat your high score, try and find all the Pokémon on the island, and get the “best” pictures possible allowed the game to thrive over time.
For me, this just broadened my excitement and fascination with this universe, which is still happening today.
What games are you thankful for? What games have a special spot in your heart?
Come back tomorrow for the next game of the series!

Taking photos made super fun, I imagine a massively expanded sequel or something would be really interesting at the least.
