Video Games I’m Thankful For (Part 12)

For the twelfth chapter of the “Video Games I’m Thankful For” series, I head way back into the early 2000’s (for some, that seems like a lifetime ago). This game was first seen in arcades before it hit the consoles by storm. You could say that we all moved to the beat. Let’s see what I’m talking about:

Dance Dance Revolution

With a game like this, players will either love it or hate it. I absolutely loved this game. When we would go to the arcade, I would always run to see if it was free and make sure I played at least one round.

When the game went on the consoles, the fun was only a friend’s house away (sadly I didn’t have a console that had the game). Parties were centered around this activity, competition among friends, and parents were always perplexed that their children would want to smash four arrows with their feet than actually “dance”.

Regardless on how the parents felt, the players of the games absolutely loved them. Let’s not forget all the variations on the genre as well: Dance Dance Revolution Extreme, Dance Dance Revolution with Mario and many more.

What games are you thankful for? What games have a special spot in your heart?

Come back tomorrow for the next game of the series!

  1. I wanna try a DDR, but to have a dance mat on anything but the ground floor is gonna be real disruptive for anyone else! Guess it waits on the sidelines ever longer.
