7 WAYS BEING A XBOX FAN HAS BEEN DISAPPOINTING

Nobody expected Microsoft to jump into console gaming. Even fewer naysayers thought they would still be doing it today. I was a Nintendo kid in my earliest years (perhaps explaining some pent-up aggression) when suddenly a little indie-game called Halo 2 took me in an all-new direction. It hasn’t been an entirely positive experience though… and here are seven examples. Continue reading 7 WAYS BEING A XBOX FAN HAS BEEN DISAPPOINTING

7 EXCLUSIVE GAMES NINTENDO DIDN’T DESERVE

The video game industry owes a lot to Nintendo. People often point out how the former toy company single-handedly brought this entertainment medium back after the horrific crash, and went on to innovate and reinvigorate in a new generation of their own making — but that was then. Nowadays Nintendo is too hung up on gimmicks and maintaining an inoffensive online community, leaving lots of former fans in the cold. DIGITALLY DOOMED: MAVERICK HUNTER

We all have that one game that we were beyond excited for, only to find out it was canceled. Perhaps it was never even announced, quietly snuffed out to be discovered later. These games were doomed to never see release, but that doesn’t mean the concepts were bad. Today I’m going to talk about one such game, called Maverick Hunter, which never saw the light of day. APPARENTLY THE INTERNET HATES FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE ALREADY

Well, that escalated quickly. Everyone’s personal hype gauge for Final Fantasy VII Remake shot from one to 100 after a single trailer… then flatlined the moment it was discussed. Okay, so the game being released in “multiple parts” is unexpected — but is it a bad thing? I don’t think so, and here’s why. Continue reading APPARENTLY THE INTERNET HATES FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE ALREADY

DISPLATE – WHO SAYS VIDEO GAMES CAN’T BE ART?

If you’re anything like me, you probably collect something. Toys, comics, replica swords… the list goes on. These things don’t just take up space, though! They decorate our homes and inform people of the things we like. However, as I ran low on shelf space and searched for more traditional decorations, I happened across something unexpected.

Metal. Freakin’. Posters. Intrigued yet…? Continue reading DISPLATE – WHO SAYS VIDEO GAMES CAN’T BE ART?

Well, boys and girls, that blessed time is upon us: holiday season, when the year’s biggest and most-anticipated video games finally hit us one-after-another until our wallets cry out for mercy. Many of us will excitedly buy these for ourselves, for a friend or possibly receive them as gifts in turn. Unless… we’re not. Continue reading MISSING THE HYPE TRAIN – COPING WITH A SUDDEN LOSS OF NEW RELEASE HYPE

Hands-On Impressions of LEGO Nexus Knights

On the heels of LEGO Dimensions and the upcoming release of LEGO Marvel’s Avengers in January, it seems like the LEGO franchise can do no wrong. Sprinkle in their successes with the LEGO Ninjago and Legends of Chima games, play sets, and shows, one would think that they have pushed their will over all forms of entertainment. But what could blend the ideas of LEGO Dimensions and the successes of the their newest series? LEGO Nexus Knights attempts to do just this.
